Perfect Routine
I used to have a routine that I am proud of. Every day I wake up knowing exactly what I need to do, I could already picture how my day would end, or even how I would feel at the end of the day. Probably tired, maybe I would feel a little proud of what I managed to squeeze and accomplish within the day, mistaking a sense of relief as achievement. Until one day I started to question if the safety that routine provides is actually helping me become who I want to be, is this an illusion meant to distract me from my actual goals? Am I hiding behind the masks of comfort, using this as an excuse to shut me off from trying? Instead of having a safety net to fall back on I just build one and stay there, away from risks that comes with learning, then complaining about not knowing to fly when all I do is building the wall up around my nests so I can hide in it better.
Comfort or Curiosity?
I remember reading somewhere about how human mind will always go for what we know and used to, instead of trying something new, because not only does new mean danger and risks, it is also harder. To learn a new skill is harder, to go for a new route means learning to adapt and always stay alert, looking out for solutions when things inevitably go wrong. This mechanism makes sense back then, when we used to hunt and have to sleep with one eye open in case you get eaten by a tiger or something, but we live in the modern world now, far away from danger and disaster, does this method of choosing familiarity still benefits us like it used to? Are we, in choosing safety, neglecting our needs to learn, our curiosity and instinct to explore, is protecting our peace worth sacrificing our dreams?
Season of Experience
This season, we explore the idea of exploring. We believe it’s human instinct to want to be safe and choose what is easy, but at the same time it is also human instinct to want to explore and experience, and that will always come with risks. Encouraging people and ourselves to go a little out of our comfort zone, take the unfamiliar route and break your routine, take a chance and create your memories instead of just observing life happening. A reminder to prioritise experience, to try new things and most importantly to make life fun.
