What is an art installation?
Much like any art form, art installations’ goal is to send a message: by stepping into the art itself you are transformed and submerged, surrounded by an idea that speaks to you through participation.
Art installation is created with the viewers’ perspective and experience in mind. Occupying and transforming a room into an interactive space where one could walk right into, engaging with the art all around you. Most of the time we view a painting from an outside perspective, trying to understand a story told by someone, whereas an art installation you are encouraged to become a part of the artwork, experiencing the story by playing as the characters.
Why is it important?
By involving the viewers it urges them to be curious and wonder, instead of just feeding you a tagline of a message you are asked to explore the space, to spend time within the carefully curated environment and feel what the artists is trying to convey.
Mewracle: A seasonal art installation
Here at mewmovement, we dedicated a space in our little art shop to explore the possibilities and limitations of art. With a minimum budget, we craft our own version of art installation from scratch and recycled materials, letting our imagination run wild and sculpting them into real life.
Every 3 months we will come up with a brand new idea and concept, a new installations with it’s own message and story to tell.
We hope through experiencing our Mewracle we can inspire people to dream and question, to challenge and escape from your routines and habits, to view and experience the world with new perspectives and an open heart, a reminder to be human.
